Founded in 1967, Universal Seal has always taken the leadership role in seal
manufacturing. The patented ‘’spin cast’’ Centrifugal
Molding Process is another example of our proprietary innovations. Our technical
staff handles the design, engineering, and testing of polyurethane seal systems
and other custom molded products. Universal Seal – leading a worldwide

Executive Team
Jimmy Haythornthwaite – President /
Owner
Jimmy is an entrepreneur who owns several different businesses and acquired Universal Seal in 1988. Jimmy was the CEO of Scapa Group PLC, a London based public company supplying equipment to the paper industry. Jimmy is a mechanical engineer and possesses a broad range of patents. Jimmy has designed many of the recent production machinery innovations at Universal Seal. Jimmy resides in Hudson, Quebec having immigrated to North America from England in 1954.
Tony Hastrop – Vice President Operations
Tony has been working at Universal Seal since 1980. He started working at Universal
Seal as plant manager. Prior to his employment at Universal Seal Tony worked
in the Aeronautical industry as an engineer. Tony’s engineering background
has been instrumental in the new seal designs such as the eel-seal and the bronze
impregnated seal just to name a few. Tony is responsible for Operation and Technical
application and research and development. Tony immigrated to Canada from England
in 1968. Tony resides in Bancroft, Ontario.
Blaine Shannick – Controller / IT
MGR.
Blaine has been working at Universal Seal since 1986. Blaine is responsible for
Finances and the Computer System and Network at Universal Seal. Blaine also overseas
inside sales as well as production scheduling. Blaine is a native and resident
of Bancroft.
Lorraine Donald – Sales and Marketing
Manager
Lorraine has been working at Universal Seal since 1999. She works with the key distributors in the U.S. as well as the development of new distributors. She has worked in the industrial sector for twenty-five years. Lorraine resides in Birmingham, Al.
Kenneth Latham – Customer Service Specialist
Kenneth joined Universal Seal in March of 2004. He has worked in the fluid sealing industry since 1988. Kenneth has provided customer service in most all areas ranging from production, inside sales and outside sales. He is responsible for establishing and maintaining new distributorships throughout the U.S. Kenneth resides in Birmingham, Al.
Joe Steele – Sale Representatives
Joe has been working for Universal Seal since 1992. Joe is responsible for all sales in the Western Canadian market. Prior to working at Universal Seal Joe worked for Dowty Industrial Hydraulics & Drive Products Inc. Joe resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Dawn Pelley – Administration
Dawn has been working for Universal Seal since 1986. Dawn handles all administrative
tasks as well customer service, direct mail programs etc. She started in the
plant in shipping and has worked in production, cutting, trimming and inspection
depts before joining the office staff in 1997. Dawn resides in Maynooth, Ontario.
Ola Lariviere - Draftsperson
Ola has been working for Universal Seal since 1995. Ola does
all our engineering drawings. Prior to her employment at
Universal Seal, Ola worked for Ontario Hydro.
Ola resides in Bancroft, Ontario.
